Behavioral Health Treatment For Teens

When is it Time For Behavioral Health Treatment Centers for Adolescents?

Teens suffering the consequences of their problem behaviors are often open to receiving help. No one enjoys being in constant trouble at school, at home, or with the law. The sooner that the behavioral issues are identified and treated, the sooner we can help your teen heal and live a healthier life.

Parents who are at their wits end after trying in vain to help their at-risk son or daughter with problem behaviors, with or without professional help, may need to consider a more intensive treatment approach to the problem. A residential treatment center provides the teen with an opportunity to escape the situations or people who trigger the maladaptive behavior long enough to learn new, healthy responses to the stressors.

Experience. Connect. Grow.

BNI Treatment offers your teen a path forward.
Healing & Recovering Together

Parent & Family Support

At our mental health treatment center for teens, we understand how difficult this time is for the parents and families of a struggling teen. Our therapeutic and clinical team will provide therapeutic support and guidance for the family unit during the entire process.

Residential Behavioral Treatment for Teens

A teen with a serious behavioral or emotional disorder will benefit from the more focused treatment intervention and support found at a residential program tailored for adolescents. BNI Treatment Centers offer academic tutors and liaisons that help keep the teen engaged in their classwork while in treatment. Also, our residential treatment program designed for teens will adapt the therapeutic activities to this age group, making it more relatable to them.

While the teen is at the treatment center they will engage in various behavioral therapies, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), solutions focused therapy, and mindfulness cognitive behavioral therapy to help them replace maladaptive behavioral responses to stressors with healthy, constructive responses. With these tools, the teen will learn how to better navigate sources of frustration, anger, or stress moving forward.

Types of Treatment

Teen Treatment Programs

When a teen experiences a sudden psychiatric or drug-related crisis that can bring about significant impairment in function, or even be life-threatening, acute stabilization services are required.  Acute stabilization involves integrated medical and psychiatric interventions provided in a medical environment on a short-term basis that are adjusted to the level of the specific emergency—mild, moderate, or severe.

When a teen is struggling with a mental health condition it can profoundly impact all aspects of their lives. Getting professional treatment for an adolescent experiencing mood disorders or psychiatric distress is imperative in order to restore healthy functioning. Residential treatment allows the time and space for real change to occur within a safe and supportive treatment environment.

When a teen struggles with both a substance use disorder (SUD) and a co-occurring mental health disorder it is termed Dual Diagnosis. Both disorders must be treated in a coordinated manner for a successful recovery outcome. A skilled psychotherapist can guide the teen towards exploring underlying emotional pain to help understand the contributing factors toward both the SUD and the accompanying depression, anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, PTSD, or other mental health disorders.  Only by examining the whole psychological picture can an effective, individualized treatment plan be developed.

While seeking treatment is the top priority, it is also important that an extended absence from school does not negatively impact the teen’s academic progress. During the residential treatment period, the adolescent will continue to engage in their studies with the assistance of the BNI case management and treatment team coordinating with the school representatives and parents. During treatment the student may require additional assistance with their schoolwork. To aid with this, BNI Treatment Centers provides on-site tutors as well as computer stations for the teen’s school use while in treatment.
