Dr. Aminzadeh is an amazing psychiatrist. He understands kids, teens, and young adults. I highly recommend him and BNI Treatment.
Torie S.
Dr. Aminzadeh is one of the best child adolescent and adult psychiatrists I know. He is also BC in Addiction Psychiatry, deeming him extremely well rounded educationally. Perhaps more importantly, as a colleague I have referred several patients to him who have had positive experiences both from his clinical acumen but also due to his mild mannered and caring demeanor. Will and continue to refer to his practice.

This place helped me a lot but I went to the other location

BNI is hands-down the best therapy and psychiatry in the 2.5 years of our daughter’s mental health treatment journey. She entered BNI very unstable and exhibiting dangerous behaviors, including self-harming and suicidal behaviors. With the treatment at BNI, she made what she calls a ‘u-turn’ and has now gone over 3 months without harming and suicide attempts. We truly believe BNI saved her life. There were some administrative hiccups that caused frustration, but the exceptional treatment far outweighed those.

Our son spent about 6 weeks at BNI during this year’s pandemic and resulting shelter-in-place orders. While the shelter-in-place amplified and brought his issues to a head, ultimately landing him in residential care, it was also a true blessing and window of opportunity to get him the help he’s needed for some time. He’s been struggling with a mood disorder for several years and had been self-medicating with marijuana and other substances, so he had a dual diagnosis and needed intensive help to address both. It is a scary thing for a parent to be faced with choices like these when you realize things cannot go on as they have and for the safety and well-being of your child and the entire household, you need to seek a higher level of care. I am so thankful we found BNI when we did. From the start, the admissions process was completely different from other places. Doug was so kind and responsive and arranged for a doctor-to-doctor conversation to determine whether BNI was a good fit for our son and visa-versa. He explained that BNI is doctor-owned and operated and once admitted, we immediately got a contact list of all of his providers. Almost all of them were doctors. I also got a call and text right away from his primary therapist, Dr. S., who assured us he’d arrived safely and was acclimating, and would be in touch regularly, and she was. We had regular family sessions, parent sessions and family visits via tele-health, and of course he had a full slate of his own sessions every day. She also kept us posted on his progress and weekly team meetings and made a plan for his return home. The other providers- his psychiatrist, physician, clinical pharmacist, nurses, counselors, case manager, etc. were also extremely responsive whenever I had a question. As I said, it was a difficult thing to do, but we’re grateful the SIP pushed us to get him the help he needed. And of any of the places we researched and considered, BNI was absolutely the right place for him, and a place where we felt safe and comfortable sending our son.

I cannot say enough about how the BNI treatment center for teens has helped me, but especially my son. My son was initially sent to another drug rehabilitation program in Southern California for his drug and alcohol addiction. After three days, my son ran away, as is typical in these cases. However, this program deemed him too high risk and released him. This was the second rehabilitation program that my son was kicked out of. I was desperate to find another program and quickly. While my son was admitted into the psychiatric hospital in Orange County (we live in Chicago), I was given a recommendation to the BNI treatment center in Agoura Hills, CA. I contacted the Director of admissions, Doug Jewell and he immediately explained the process and made it so simple. He checked with the insurance and even gave me hope when he shared his personal struggle and how he was once where my son was at the time of my call. That gave me peace and hope, which I had not felt for a very long time. Doug went above and beyond and drove all the way to Orange County to visit my son and introduce himself to my scared, yet angry son. His visit put my son at ease and also gave him a familiar face to see when my son was admitted into the program. Doug will never know how much of an impact that action had on my son and we will be forever grateful. The home and location of BNI is simply beautiful and very comfortable for the teens. The home is in the rolling hills of Agoura Hills, surrounded by horse ranches. The Doctors at BNI, including the nurses and therapist were in constant communication with me, providing updates with his progress and medication management. What made the most impact and change with my son, was the care and dedication from his Doctor, Dr Mesrobian. She never relented and showed my son kindness, patience, compassion and that is the point, along with the proper medications, that changed my son. I noticed a difference in him when I would visit or call. He was not the same teen that he was when he was admitted. We had struggled through 6 months of multiple hospital and treatment centers and BNI, was where we found success. I know that addiction is never truly healed, but BNI gave him the right tools, support and after care to help my son succeed and become sober. I am so grateful to BNI and the Doctors, nurses and staff, especially Doug and Dr Mesrobian, for giving me my son back. My son is back home now and Doctor Mesrobian still calls and checks in with him and his progress. Truly remarkable and caring program. – D.G.

My entire family is so grateful for BNI! BNI is truly a special place that helped our son with his mental health and substance abuse. Before we discovered BNI, we were at a loss of how to help him. The entire staff including the amazing director, counselors, nurses, psychologists, and psychiatrist made the process so manageable. Each and every individual that works at BNI is warm and caring. Most importantly, BNI not only provided my son with the tools he needs to build his self esteem and lead a healthier lifestyle, but provided us (the parents) the tools as well. Our son came home a different person and we know BNI will forever hold a special place in all our hearts. – H.C.

Words cannot express my complete gratitude for each and every staff that were so extremely and genuinely dedicated to the well being of my child and family. The responsiveness and follow through as well as the keen clinical and wellness skill set each staff has in their respective position goes above and beyond but at the same time is exactly what a child and family need through the most difficult times when they truly need a village. I will be forever grateful. They are able to stabilize so that you can see what the next steps and future will hold and they are committed to helping your child and family get there. They provide true care and treatment. It is not easy. Your child and you will get as much out as you put in. But the staff are willing to meet you where you are at and put in the work as well. They will not give up if you do not give up. That commitment will need to be maintained by your child and family ongoing remaining in treatment and recovery for as long as needed. These people are dynamic and I truly believe part of God’s plan, angels on earth fighting the good fight. They take you out of darkness so that you can see the light. But at the end of the day they put their angel wings away and are truly people helping people. Which is God’s work. All good things come from God. I thank these people and I thank God. L.M.

No one wants to be in the situation of needing to send their child away for mental health needs. It feels awful as a parent. But, if you have tried every intervention and your child is still struggling, BNI is a godsend. Over time, our daughter was able to see that we were not punishing her by sending her to BNI. But rather, getting her the help she desperately needed. She learned to trust the staff and we, too, trusted that the staff was taking good care of her. Dr. Struck was simply amazing at getting to the root cause of our daughter’s struggles and, for the first time ever, getting our daughter to open up and realize what was bothering her. The family involvement was exceptional and there was great, regular communication about our daughter’s progress. Dr. M was very on top of things and helped coach us through what we needed to know so we could best help our child. Doug made everything to do with administration go smoothly and helped make sure everything fell into place. The owners/operators, Dr.O, and Dr. A truly put their patients first. I do think some of the floor staff might have let our daughter get away with a few things she shouldn’t have, but we certainly were not succeeding in that department at home either. Overall, we felt very comfortable and safe and that our daughter was brought to a new level in order to confront what will be a long road of healing and learning to manage her issues. P.C.

If you have an adolescent with addiction , there is no better care than BNI. They are head and shoulders above any other treatment facility. They care for the “whole” child. The medically supervised detox being the FIRST order of business, your child can detox , they can’t do it on their own , don’t believe your child if they say they quit on their own. It’s impossible. Especially if it’s an opioid addiction . If your insurance pays for this program, admit your child . You can have peace of mind , your child is well cared for.

My son was on a crash course with addiction and on a road that was certain to end up in prison or death. BNI, first of all, was able to guide me through my insurance plans to help me get my son to them without all of the financial burden. Since it was not our first time going down this road that was amazing in itself. Once our son arrived, he was treated with such respect and dignity. The Therapists, Councilors, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Pharmacists (and more) are such an amazing team.
My son is definitely facing challenges still as he received a fairly tough diagnosis. Now we know it is there and we can deal with it. Without BNI we would have been left with a kid who was fighting an unnamed opponent. BNI saved my son’s life as far as I am concerned.
Last, they made sure we had a plan when we came to hope. We were set up with an IOP, and specialty care options for his specific challenges. Amazing team. Definitely life changing!

BNI Treatment Center is amazing! It’s hard to put into words how much this place helped our family. My teenage son was experiencing so many difficulties before he went to BNI. Through a variety of therapeutic techniques over several weeks, they helped him dig deep into his past and learn all about himself. He became very self-aware, and seemed to understand himself and our relationship so much better. Through our (virtual, due to COVID) BNI family therapy, we reconnected in a very loving way. The staff members are all highly experienced, knowledgeable, and caring. I was touched by how much they connected with my son. I would highly recommend this treatment center for teens. I honestly believe they saved my son’s life.
B.L.
Prior to BNI, our son was going down a dark road, a bad path. Drugs, crimes, dropping out of school, major defiance at home, moments of anger and threats, out all night, insomnia, symptoms of ADHD/ODD, etc. As parents, we tried everything – rules, discipline, therapy, we tried it ‘our’ way, we tried it ‘his’ way. Nothing worked. He was always holding it over our head – I’ll run away if you don’t get off my back.
He wound up getting in trouble with the law to the point where he arrived at BNI Treatment Center. In the past, we explored other residential treatment facilities. Talking to others – they don’t work unless the kid wants to be there. Many allow the kid to go AWOL, leave. There are some states that block leaving, but they can be very pricey, and even still…unless the kid agrees they need to be there, it’ll be a tough road and treatment may not work.
We drove our son to BNI Treatment and assumed he would fight us the entire way. Fearful of getting him into the car, the actual drive there, and what would happen once we arrived. Went way better than we expected. DO NOT trick your kid. Make sure they know where they are going…do not surprise them or the arrival will not go well and treatment may be impossible. He didn’t want to go, but deep down, he knew he needed help. He was very reluctant, threatened to run away after he arrived, but he still allowed us to drive him there. BNI was ready right when we arrived, specifically the account manager, whom I will only use his first name abbreviation D. D is very relatable with the kids, allowing transition to be smooth. Therapist S came right out and showed our son the house, tried to make him feel comfortable while we talked to D about the process and filled out paperwork.
The house holds a handful of kids at a time, up to six – 15-17 seems to be the age group. They are dealing with addiction, emotional issues, school problems, social problems, anxiety, depression, etc. The BNI team is welcoming, smart, experienced, and they all have compassion for these kids…from what I saw, they see these kids more than just ‘clients’; which is what they call them, they take it personally – they want the kids to heal, grow, and find success. I truly feel they care; which is a rarity in this world. Perhaps it’s because some of the staff has similar experiences and/or they’re younger and can relate more with the troubles teens deal with in this day and age.
The kids have chores, a daily routine, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, group family therapy, a psychiatrist, multiple therapists, a nurse present every day, etc. Doctors prescribe drugs based on what they see and they error on the side of being conservative. The kids are constantly monitored, following rules. Cameras track everything. The house is a bit in the middle of nowhere, but nestled in beautiful Malibu hills. There’s nowhere to run too. A chef prepares quality food because proper nutrition helps keep their body working right.
Long story short, our son is a new person. His old story, the old road, it’s a thing of the past and a driving force in which he uses to keep his focus on his new story. He’s back in school and excited to be there. No more drugs, crimes, etc…he recognizes it was self destructive behavior and was hurting others = self awareness and recognition of actions / consequences, understanding risk.
We as parents received numerous helpful tips to adjust our parenting techniques at home, all of which have worked thus far. We all treat each other with more respect, kindness, and love. It’s mutual. We all adjusted, but in many ways, the adjustments are minor compared to how the house functioned previously. Where our house was that of parents walking on eggshells, we are now relaxed and enjoying each other’s company. Aside from school, our son is taking driver’s education, attending an IOP continuing treatment therapy facility a couple times a week, looking to get a part-time job, and attending church. He’s a night and day different person…someone who sees a better, brighter future and wants to achieve great things with a clear mind, the right way.
I’d say it’s a miracle, but that doesn’t give what has happened justice. As parents, we went from having zero hope. We believed he was headed for a life on the streets or in jail. We now have hope, confidence, and reciprocated love. We did not create this turnaround. The BNI program and trained staff did it. Now it’s on us to keep the ball rolling, and together with our son, we have confidence we’ll succeed.
Special thanks to D, T, Dr M, Dr A, S, A, C, R, the chef, and everyone else on staff. YOU helped bring our son back. Worth every penny, and it’s a gift we’ll never be able to completely repay you for. I hope this review is helpful for parents of teens that feel they have no hope. Contact BNI and learn more. Don’t wait until your kid is in jail or has disappeared. Get help!

Entrusting your child to a group of people you have never met, in a place he has never been before is unnerving at best. Doing so with your child who has severe mental health issues and learning disabilities – a truly frightening scenario and a result of absolute desperation by parents. After over two years searching for a diagnosis, trying treatment after treatment, doctor after doctor, my brother and I found ourselves at the welcoming door of BNI Treatment Centers.
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Doug who made us feel as welcome as family. Between the competent, dedicated and empathetic professionals, individualized approach to treat the entire family, accommodating staff and beautiful facility, we knew this was the right decision.
The care and attention is 24/7. They make certain there is no time left unsupervised so parents know their child is in a safe place. While there is clear methodology and process to the treatment, they are flexible and willing to accommodate both the child and the parents’ individual needs. They focus on the child’s mind, body and spirit with individual, group counseling, practicing mindfulness, and unique therapies such as equestrian and surf therapy. They focus too much on physical fitness and nutrition.
Dr. A, a seasoned and compassionate Psychiatrist with a vision. Sean, an effective and incredibly patient therapist. Trevor, a one-of-a-kind, driven, natural talent who believes in every child, and instills in them a sense of self-worth. The supportive team of Doug, Karen, Curtis, Rose, and Crystal are all top drawer.
In the sea of facilities that are available, BNI stands out as unique. They specialize in teens and limit treatment to six at a time. They know how to bond quickly in order to develop a child’s trust, can relate to their challenges, and build back a foundation for them to have their best chance for success when they return to their lives. BNI doesn’t give up on your child, even if your child has given up.

I am giving 5 stars for this facility, only because I can’t give 10. Our 17 year old recently was a client here and was having suicidal ideations, along with severe social anxiety, ptsd, major depression with psychosis and just not feeling good about life in general.
Getting to the facility and straight away the staff and Dr.A, made me feel at home, the high comfort level of leaving my child and going back home to Texas and having peace of mind that it was going to be okay. The staff treated my child like one of their own and the bond strengthened to the point we all feel like family now! The main thing is my child now has some confidence, self assurance, no suicidal thoughts, SMILING again, not covering his face when he talks to anyone, is more social than the last 5 years and is feeling better overall! I HIGHLY recommend this treatment center to anyone with a teenager who isn’t having success anywhere else. Shout out to Dr.A, Dr.M, Trevor, Crystal, and Rose! I sincerely appreciate EVERYTHING you all have done the last 2 months for us!

BNI Treatment is an outstanding care facility! The Doctors and staff there really care about their patients and go the extra mile to provide great treatment. They offer individual and group counseling, tons of therapeutic treatments, and even academic support if needed. BNI is a stellar option if you’re looking for treatment for a teenaged loved one. Definitely check them out!

BNI is definitely the right place for a parent who is seeking professional mental health help for their teen. BNI works with your teen to treat their specific needs by using evidence based approaches.

I cannot express enough how grateful I am to BNI. From day one they made me feel at ease and my child welcomed me. Dr. A was amazing, we’d been to so many psychiatrists before but never got the help or the answers we needed until we got our child in there. The progress he made there was phenomenal. I can’t believe the difference from when he first went in until he left. We have hope again. Thank you to all the staff there as well. They were kind, courteous and professional and put up with all my phone calls and questions – which I’m sure was a lot! I highly recommend BNI to anyone with a child that needs help!

Definitely feel comfortable recommending this place to anyone with a teen who needs help. Ours was struggling very badly, in serious need of help and we really didn’t know what to do or what to expect. BNI really came through for our kid. Since we picked them up we’ve seen a marked improvement in their attitude and behavior. We sleep much better at night now. It’s really something.

BNI saved my son’s life. The care given to my son far outweighed our expectations. Dr M is an unbelievable therapist who really listened and was able to help my son and his PTSD and start to put a horrible nightmare in the past. She was able to get through to him in a way that other therapists haven’t. Trevor who runs the family group sessions and parent coaching is able to communicate so well with the parents and totally speaks a language the kids can understand. There are so many wonderful different therapies they use from surf therapy, Art, music therapy but the equine therapy has been a saving grace for our son and he continues to do it since he’s been out. The team at BNI really made sure it was the right time to release our son to come home and have still been available to us for the little bump in the roads we’ve experienced. During his 2 month stay the wild fires broke out and they were evacuated for 2 weeks. What could have been a disastrous setback was only a bump due to the professionalism of the whole BNI treatment Team and their continued advocacy for our kids. Other than having to relocate and a few changes they never missed a beat and my son continued to heal. My son tells us weekly he wishes he could go back to BNI because he misses the safe structure he had there -that to me tells me it was a fabulous place!

My son was a client at BNI for 30 days and was discharged two weeks ago. I can’t say enough good things about this facility. From my first interaction with the admissions coordinator Doug I was put at ease. The admissions process was easy. It’s a difficult decision to admit your child to a residential treatment facility but our family was spiraling out of control due to my son’s mental health and substance abuse issues along with our poor coping skills. My son seemed happy to be in a safe place where he could get the help that he knew he needed. He was held accountable for his actions which was not always easy for him but he put the work in to get better and make the staff proud of him. His primary therapist Dr. M was truly amazing. I feel like she understood my son more than anyone had before. He was really able to open up to her. His case manager Trevor was also great with lots of parent coaching which has helped us a lot at home. Even the counselor Crystal who he had the most problems with at first became one of his favorites. She was able to see past his defiance and give him the tough love he needed. Rose was an awesome nurse who kept telling me he was a sweet boy which is just what I needed to hear. The whole staff was amazing. So far at home he’s doing really well. He is playing guitar (which he started there during music therapy) and he’s working out every day. He’s going to AA meetings and got a sponsor. All this started at BNI. Doug even came to my son’s last day sendoff to give him his 30 day chip which meant the world to him. I’m not saying the path forward will be easy but I have a hopefulness I haven’t had in a long time. If you think your child needs help, don’t hesitate to reach out to this facility.

I won’t go through the details of my personal experience however I will say that from admission to after care has been exceptional. There were many really tough challenges in our situation but BNI staff were all very supportive, spent a lot of time and had a lot of patience and empathy throughout the entire time. My child was able to bond with the house staff as well. Upon discharge of my child, I felt quite overwhelmed but BNI arranged to have parent coaching sessions that have been amazingly helpful and has helped with the successful transition from residential care to back to home. Words can’t adequately describe how the aftercare support has been more than exceptional for all of us. Despite the challenges, I am grateful for BNI and their care.
Catherine J.
The staff at BNI really made a difference, The care is great. They know how to get down to the root of issues. She struggled a lot and we were at our wits end. Dr. A gets so much credit. We have been in and out of so many places for her issues and this place is what we needed to finally get there. The staff is great and I recommend people that are looking for behavioral help to reach out.
Nacho M.
We are thankful to have found BNI, this is such a great place, the people that work there are very professional and helped my teenager and us in difficult times.
Starting from Doug, my daughter’s therapist (Cristina), our family therapist was the best! (Dr. Schwartz thank you so much), the doctors and in general all the staff, we are thankful for them taking such good care of my daughter and helping her overcome a severe mental crisis and addictions.
They put her on a good path, they helped us during very difficult times. I totally recommend this place.

You can stop your research. BNI Treatment Centers brought my daughter back to me. For 8 and a half weeks, she received superb care from an incredible and loving staff. From the therapists to the nurses and coaches, BNI was there for my daughter. BNI is a wonderful center, the staff offer tremendous support, and they have created a rigorous, effective program. My daughter participated in multiple one-on-one sessions, she and I participated in family sessions, and there were meaningful multi-family group sessions as well. Her clinicians guided her through doing the really hard work. She is now stable, has gained insight into herself, and is remarkably enthusiastic about her future. When she was in crisis, all I could think about was helping her to get out of her pain. I did meticulous research because I had to find the right place. BNI was the right place. My daughter left treatment with terrific tools, as did I. I hope we never need help again, but if we did, BNI would be my very first call. Thank you, BNI, for returning my daughter to me. I will be forever grateful.

Nothing else had worked for us…until BNI.
Our son recently completed his treatment at BNI and is finally back with our family. Not only do we have our son back, but thanks to BNI, we have our family back.
Prior to our relocation and unbeknownst to us, our son had been given pills from friends who had themselves taken or seen family members take prescription medications for anxiety and depression.
Secretly, for months, our son self-medicated. Feelings of guilt began to mount, as did his fear of discovery.
Once the pills were gone, our son spiraled. He began engaging in harmful behaviors–including self-harm, substance abuse, and suicide attempt.
It felt unbelievable–surreal to twilight zone to nightmare. Our son who had scored in the 99th percentile of standardized tests and had his whole life been the favorite among peers, teachers, and adults was unraveling. Like many others–perhaps you who are reading this now–we got our son a therapist. Still, he began failing classes; he was caught cheating; other parents and adults began accusing our son of drinking and stealing.
Where there was once a happy and thriving boy of exceptional aptitude and sensitivity, there was now a sullen stranger who was so unpredictable, our entire family felt hostage in our own home.
After our son was suspended for possession, we enrolled him into a substance abuse program. When things didn’t improve, we enrolled him into IOP (intensive outpatient). As our son continued to struggle, we added more therapists and more therapy. Despite all the efforts, our son continued to hurt and we ended-up in E.R. for SI (suicide ideation) with plan. Our son was gurney’s from E.R. to the mental health ward of the hospital.
After two weeks, the hospital concluded that our son required a higher level of care–deafening mic-drop. A higher level of care than the mental health ward of a hospital?!
Among the flood of thoughts and emotions was the fear that if over a year of intense therapies with multiple therapists + an IOP program, and now a team of hospital doctors, therapists and nurses couldn’t help our son, what chance did anyone have? It felt like our entire family was being sucked into a vacuous black hole and we were being crushed from the intense pressure. Worse, it seemed like we were reaching a point of no return.
Fast forward to today: Our family is once again in a happy place. Our meals are filled with bright conversation with our children overflowing with excited anecdotes and playful humor. It’s such a simple thing–family togetherness–but once you’ve had it and then had to live without it, having it back makes you swell up with happiness and tear-up from emotions.
More about our experience with BNI:
BNI was and is amazing. Perhaps it is because BNI is doctor-owned and operated, but the level of care from BNI is lightyears beyond any care that our son had previously received.
When I first reached-out to BNI, they *immediately* called me back. Given our history of disappointments, I was cautious not to get my hopes up. I didn’t know it then, but BNI’s stellar handling from the beginning was just the start of BNI’s superlative care.
Those first days, while we were still in the hospital, BNI ‘handheld’ me through the process/transition and even before our son was admitted into BNI, BNI began actively assisting and advocating for our son and family. We were especially shocked when a BNI psychiatrist made himself available to us BEFORE we were at BNI and WHILE he was traveling abroad!
Our son entering BNI and our son post-BNI are almost unrecognizable as the same human being.
BNI opened their doors to a boy in obvious distress–sunken, scarred and shaky. Through the course of treatment, our bright, witty and sensitively thoughtful son was not just returned to life but actually improved.
I never imagined I would ever see a silver lining to all the chaos and agony of the last two years, but looking at our son, listening to him talk, watching how he conducts himself and interacts with the world and people around him, it’s undeniable that this experience has been formative.
BNI helped rebuild our son and it shows. He’s once again making long-term plans and is committed to his academic and future success. He finished his academic year with a B+ average; he is the picture of youthful energy and health; he is a young man with obvious promise of becoming an adult who is self-possessed and a valuable asset to those fortunate enough to cross his path.
Our son’s primary BNI doctors (Dr. M and Dr. A) have been and continue to be involved and impactful. I don’t know how to thank them enough, nor endorse them adequately.
If your child / loved one / family is suffering, call BNI. See what they have to say. And if they have space available, consider it a gift.
Scott S.
I highly recommend this facility to get top notch treatment and care for adolescents. The psychiatrists who own and operate it are knowledgeable and professional. The whole staff genuinely cares. The therapists are young enough for the kids to relate to and are great positive role models. The facility is more like staying at a luxurious home than a clinical facility. It’s situated in a scenic area that lends itself to reflection and peace. The off-premises therapies with horses and surfing give the kids a break from conventional treatment and makes it much more palatable. The family involvement is super helpful and supportive.
Dylan L.
BNI is an amazing treatment center. They helped me get through depression and drug use in a manner that I was not used to in the sense of how welcoming and understanding they all were. Going into it I was very nervous but the staff were all so open and kind. Both therapists at the facility are great people and are very educated as well. The psychiatrists are both very thoughtful individuals and work together to find what is the best for the client. The chef at the house is amazing and each meal is at restaurant standard or better. The staff caters to each client’s needs personally. Over the course of my treatment me and my family both experienced a great amount of positive change in our lifestyles. In regards to residential treatment centers I believe BNI should for sure be ranked one of the highest on the list.
J.S.
After looking through many options for our son we found BNI. To say this is a life saver for us would be an understatement. The staff cares so much for the struggles that he had been dealing with and finally, they broke through barriers we never expected. He has progressed so much. I totally recommend them and I am grateful.
Mr. W.
I feel it absolutely necessary to write a review for BNI so I can help parents looking for help for their kid find the right place for them. This. Is. It.
My son was out of control. He was extremely depressed, smoking “wax”, drinking, throwing tantrums, and failing at school. We tried counseling and therapy but it was having virtually no impact.
I found BNI online and called. We liked the sound of it and wanted to see for ourselves so we came in for a tour. I was very impressed by location, the warmth and comfort of the house, and the accommodations (the chef was cooking something in the kitchen and it smelled amazing too)
More importantly we got to speak with Dr. A and he really impressed me as a man who knew his stuff – a wealth of knowledge and experience dealing with kids just like ours.
The treatment our son received at BNI was beyond what I had hoped for. His primary therapist was able to develop a rapport with him I hadn’t seen with any other therapists. And she kept us in the loop, always graciously calling my wife and I and answering our phone calls. The family therapy was so key, it was difficult at first but I think we ended up making some real headway in understanding our son. He actually opened up to us for the first time in a long long time.
Dr. O was his psychiatrist and he was just as good and knowledgeable as Dr. A. He found the right balance of medication for my son – so many doctors before had tried so many different things and we had nearly lost hope in the profession! Dr. O was spectacular, he really came through, and he explained everything so well to us, it really put us at ease throughout this process.
Since he’s been home, we got our son into the aftercare program BNI recommended. He’s been doing great. Applying himself at school again, staying out of trouble, and our home life is much more peaceful. Most importantly, we have peace of mind now, something we haven’t had in a long time.
Again, I must reiterate: if your kid needs help, this is the place to go.

5 stars for sure. Due to circumstances we arrived very late at night on a weekend. Their admissions guy Doug and one of the doctors were there to greet us which meant a lot to me. We were treated with warmth and kindness and the doctor patiently answered all of our questions. Through each step of the treatment we were communicated with and got a lot out of the family therapy and parent coaching. Our kid really enjoyed being there. Sure there were some rough times but I guess that’s what happens when therapy is effective and healing is taking place. We knew our kid needed to be challenged and brought out of his comfort zone but gently and kindly and that’s exactly what happened.

BNI Treatment Centers has an outstanding staff. They are knowledgeable and caring. There are few adolescent treatment facilities, let alone ones that help and address both mental health and substance abuse. Their facility is beautiful, and scenic. They take in kids from age 12-17 years old. I would definitely recommend BNI to anyone with a child struggling with substance abuse and/or mental health.
